The Fox River Trail Runners (FRTR), was founded in 1995 to promote running in the Fox Valley (from Elgin to Aurora). We are a running club, and 501c3 Not-for-Profit Corporation with over 400 Members. We host and mange four races a year that raise funds for multiple charitable organizations in the Fox Valley area. We also provide educational seminars, endurance training programs, and the FRTR Scholarship Program annually awards up to $10,000 in college scholarships to local area high school seniors and returning sophomores.

A big benefit for many of us is knowing we are supporting our local community. FRTR hosts and manages four races per year to help fund our operations and raise money for local charities. FRTR donates a minimum of $5 of every race registrant to local charity partners. Our $5, plus amounts donated by individual race registrants results in about $25,000 to $30,000 donated to deserving local charities every year.
We are also very proud of the FRTR Scholarship Program (one eligibility criteria is FRTR membership) which makes available college scholarship awards (of up to an aggregate amount of $10,000 per year) to local area youth.
But wait there’s more. FRTR funds the Accelerators Youth Running Club. This is a great organization encouraging local youth to fall in love with the sport of running. Many Accelerators go on to receive our college scholarships, and hopefully continue being active members, thus refreshing the lifecycle of a healthy club.
